Bentonite is a clay consisting mainly of smectite minerals, commonly formed by decomposition of volcanic ash or tuff, or sometimes from other igneous or sedimentary rocks. Bentonite is a very plastic clay that shrinks (or swells) markedly in response to the removal (or addition) of water.
Chemical and Physical Properties of Benitoite
The chemical and physical properties of benitoite and its associated minerals have been described by Louderback and Blasdale, and the following notes are taken from their description. The chemical analyses show it to be an acid barium titano-silicate corresponding to the formula BaTiSi3O9 . Benitoite is insoluble in ordinary acids, but is attacked by hydrofluoric acid and dissolves in fused sodium carbonate. Alone, it fuses quietly to a transparent glass at about 3. The color of benitoite is not affected by heating the stone to redness and allowing to cool. The hardness is greater than orthoclase and less than peridot, or about 6 to 6 1/2, and the specific gravity is 3.64 to 3.67.
Our ceramic bentonite, based on extremely pure and clay, could be ideally used as a suspension agent in glazes and porcelain enamels, as well as, as a binder & plasticizer in whitewares for electrical porcelain bodies, floor and wall tiles.
Bentonite has active electrolytic behavior and fine particle size, bentonites exhibit extremely high plasticity (and associated high shrinkage). In pottery and porcelain clay bodies additions of only 2% can produce marked improvements in workability and dry strength without much effect on fired color. The use of up to 5% is common, especially where high plasticity is needed it a white burning body.
Bentonites have incredibly small particle sizes (bigger surface areas). Combine this with the active particle surface chemistry (which makes them hold onto water) and it the most plastic and impermeable common clay material used in ceramics. Its contribution to working properties in glazes and clay bodies is balanced by the undesirable properties .

Bentonite Foundry Grade
We are Mfg & exporting Foundry Grade bentonite, Our Specification for Foundry grade Bentonite is displayed below. We are Involved with Activation & Processing,
Silica sand is the main component in foundry sand. It forms a structural framework of the mold due to bentonite as it binds sand particles which results in the mold strength. The main advantage of bentonite is an ability to restore its properties after extra moistening. This makes it possible to use the foundry sand after pouring metal and knockout of casting several times. Multiple use of foundry sand with bentonite significantly reduces the expenses related to waste removal and their disposal.
Our Foundry Grade Bentonite:
Bentonite is used for drilling fluids preparation. When mixing with water bentonite clay forms a viscous gelled suspension which serves as a basis for drilling fluid. During borehole construction, drilling fluid flushes the bore hole to clean it out from cuttings, lubricate and keep the drill bit cool and for other specific purposes of drilling. An important property of bentonite-based drilling fluid is that it ensures the bore hole walls stability by mudding. When the drilling fluid circulation is stopped, the clay suspension prevents cuttings from subsidence; this prevents from blocks in the bore holes and, as a result, from accidents.
Specific feature of bentonite clay as a natural material is that it’s environmentally friendly.
Our Drilling Grade Bentonite:
Our Sodium Bentonite is a highly swelling natural clay, that makes it perfactly sutable for livestock feed additives for its various benefits such as high water absorption, cation exchange ability and adsorption of Mycotoxins.
and our calcium bentonite high montmorillonite is the major constituent of bentonites which are found in nature and used as feed supplement for animals
It improves pellets quality ,prevents caking and flowability in livestock feeds. It also improve feed efficiency, rate of gain, milk production, wool growth and egg production. It also can be used as a adsorbing agent for Mycotoxins such as aflatoxin – B1. Addition of Sodium Bentonite as mycotoxin binder to contaminated feed is a safe approach to counteracting the harmful effects of mycotoxins to livestock. Mycotoxin contaminated diet consumption by livestock leads to acute mycotoxicosis with several chronic adverse effects. Use of Bentonite in feed prevents effects of radionuclides and also helps to cure bacterial infection such as salmonella in animal body.
-It is a three layer clay minerals and has the ability to absorb mycotoxin such as aflatoxin – B1.
-Works as anticaking agent and improves pellets quality.
-We are taking all precautions to avoid Dioxin in product.
-Scour prevention.
-It enhances rate of assimilation of proteins and also helps in milk output.
-Inactivation of some dietary toxins.
-Reduction in risk of urea poisoning.
-Reduced incidence of acidosis in feedlots. Improving the adaption to grain feeding.
Binders improve pellet green strength in the production of iron ore concentrate pellets. And the one that solves the purpose is Sodium Bentonite clay, which has higher water plate absorption along with superior Thermal Stability.
Highly absorbent, expandable and very fine particle disperses readily in water, resulting with excellent binding properties.
Higher Cation exchange capacities increasses binds Iron Ore particles very tightly.
-Highly absorbent, expandable and very fine particle disperses readily in water, resulting with excellent binding properties.
-Requires minimum addition of Sodium Bentonite clay as binder, resulting minimal impurities in Pellets.
-Our Product gives High Productivity, Low Production Cost and High quality of Pellets.
1) Soil amendments: highly effective soil conditioner
2) Fertilizer conditioner: reduce the water content of fertilizers, prevent the agglomeration and improve fertilizer
3) The carrier of fertilizer: enhance strength and reduce the volatile nitrogen, control the release of nitrogen fertilizer and increase crop yields.
4) Fertilizer granulation: smooth surface, hign intensity granule, uniform particles.
Bentonite can change the soil in solid, liquid, gas ratio to loose soil structure and improve soil physical properties, so that water and fat in soil is security and not contaminated soil environment; In the arid region, bentonite is a highly effective soil conditioner:high cation exchange capacity, strong and good water-retention capacity of the adhesive, cation exchange capacity is a key indicator of fat for the soil for fertilize . Bentonite is used for soil improvement, in addition to a strong performance security , it also can enhance the buffering capacity of the soil, adsorb the harmful elements in soil.
In the production of fertilizer, according to the nature of the different fertilizer by adding a small amount of bentonite can reduce the water content of fertilizers to prevent the agglomeration of fertilizer, maintain good loose, improve fertilizer. The particle size is conducive to the transportation, storage and use. It can also serve as a suspension of the conditioner. Suspension fertilizers have many advantages, such as storage, transport and easy application process of mechanization, with pesticides, herbicides and trace elements in mixed-use and easy to adjust the volume and composition and so on. In developed countries and some developing countries it is used more.
Bentonite as carrier to improve fertilizer physical properties of materials to increase the fertilizer stability in the transport, storage of the process, also has ability of nitrogen-fixing bentonite, solid potassium. The role of organic matter, it can reduce the fertilizer loss in the soil, control the release of fertilizer nutrients and improve the utilization rate of fertilizer to promote the effectiveness of crop production. Bentonite for the slow release fertilizer carrier has the following characteristics to enhance strength and reduce the nitrogen volatile; control the release of nitrogen fertilizer to increase crop yields.
After dehydration, deployment, grinding and other processing, bentonite can be the fertilizer granulation agent. For compound fertilizer granulation, a fast ball into the high rate, uniform particles, the surface smooth, granular high intensity, such as water-soluble fertilizer, thereby saving production costs.
